Insert Molding
Insert molding is the manufacturing process in which a resin is fed into a heated barrel, mixed, and forced into a preconfigured mold cavity around a pre-placed insert where it cools and hardens. Inserts can be made of metals or different types of plastics which can help strengthen components and reduce the cost of production and waste.
Plainfield Precision is ready to improve your manufacturing process.
What are the benefits of insert molding?
1. High production rates Insert molding machines increase cycle repeatability, which produce high quality products at a faster rate.
2. Repeatable high tolerances
3. Reduced scrap With reduced material consumption comes a decrease in product price.
4. Wider range of usable materials Insert molding gives more freedom in the design stage.
5. Minimal assembly after molding Insert molding reduces product price and produces a faster market time.
6. Higher strength and durability Manually assembled components do not have the potency of insert molded products.
7. Improved appearance Insert molding allows a more consistent look resulting in higher added value.
8. Increased Flexibility Shapes that would otherwise be difficult to make can now be achieved with Insert molding.
Plainfield Precision’s current range of insert molded components includes: dip switches, sensors, catheter inlets, athletic shoes custom connectors, cardio rhythmic interconnects, Bio-lab Cell Trays, power window substrates, power seat substrates, actuators, multi-function switches, motor housings and dampening mechanisms for engine systems.
